I know how that chick feels!!

I have seriously neglected my school work this semester. I cannot even begin to explain how much I have had on my plate. I never really knew that personal tragedy could befall one person in so little of time. I have really needed to work on this blog and it seems that with what little is left in the sememester I finally have time to get started.
First off, I have read many poems before. Many different poets have sank their teeth into my cerebral cavity, but I have to admit Emiliy Dickinson will sadly not be allowed back into my nervous community. I read all of the assigned poems, but only four or five where catching my eye. The rest of them were just rediculous. I thought Edgar Allen Poe was bad with all of this depressing shite. Poe had one thing going for him though, he lived like an outcast, and believed in darkness so deep that his soul was forever lost. Miss Dickinson on the other hand was just sad.  I really felt bad for this poor woman. I mean jeez you can honestly say that her life was of the most depressing kind and yet us as readers thrive to read, for what I believe to be a cry for help. Never again will I be burdened with negativity like that woman's poems.

"Oh what a night!" You know that tune!!

Ooooo weee! I can tell you that my head is reeling over last night's festivities. My birthday was this past Thursday, and so we celebrated last night. I can tell you it was a blast, and I believe if I was a couple years younger I'd probably do it again soon. Wow! I never thought I would say that, "If I was younger...", I am probably the most immature person in the Tri-county area. With that being said I am getting older but it is no excuse, I don't want to feel as if getting older is something bad. I feel like I'm getting older, but I retain the same disposition as always. Mr. Thompson said it best himself, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!" Mr. Thompson never took life to seriously and age never stopped him. He spent his life living, not questioning. That is what I am here to do.After all a protege' must live up to his predecessor.

What do I want for My Birthday?

Thursday, September, 22nd is my 24th birthday. What can I say? I mean after the fifteenth birthday I sorta stopped caring as to what I got for my birthday. I mean the only real pleasure anymore that I get is either from family or maybe a movie or a good book. I don't care for getting an X-Station or a Play-box 360, but I do care for some of the more refined things. This weekend I am hoping to go to Barnes and Noble to search for something special that will again get my writing synapses working. Whenever I read Thompson I cannot help but think writing ideas. In my current English class this week I was actually asked to read some of the works from Poe. I have read him before but I really felt that I didn't have a worthy feel for him. Well this week when I read him I did. I felt the pain this man burdened himself with. I felt every tear he shed and every agonizing scream he bellowed. I am either horrible depressed or finally getting to the point in my life that shows me that reading is just as if not more fun than watching a movie. I felt something for Poe. I  mean some people think this guy was nuts, but he wasn't entirely nuts. He was more mad with sadness. He lost his entire family almost and tried anyway he could to force those memories out of his head. The only way he knew how was he poured word after word onto paper and through his emotional stories and poems was he able to regain a somewhat tighter grip on the reality he lived in. I hope to get that too for my birthday. I want to get a tighter grip on reality.

The Rum Is Never Gone

I have been readily waiting for a new Johnny Depp movie to hit the big screen. I mean yeah okay I did see the last Pirate movie, but it wasn't like the first three. Johnny however did an amazing job, and he is still doing an amazing job in his newest movie. This October, Johnny is playing the main role in the movie the Rum Diary.
The Rum Diary is a movie based off another book. Hunter S. Thompson, a famous Gonzo writer in the 50's 60' and 70's was also the author of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, another movie that Johnny played in. This time Hunter S. Thompson left the drugs behind and strictly stuck to the hard liquor. The Rum Diary is based off a non-fictional account of when Hunter S. Thompson wrote for a run down paper in the Caribbean. The main character, Paul Kemp (played by Johnny) is man who is at a crossroads in his life and the only way he finds any sort of direction is by filling his void with shady characters and plenty of alcohol. I cannot wait to see this movie. It's gonna be freaking awesome.
Anyways, yeah so this is my very first blog for the semester and I am already having a blast. Where can you seriously go to write about an author famous for his outlandish persona and writing style and also the most amazing actor in the world and still get college credit for it? Here, that is the answer.I cannot wait to continue writing blogs for this class, because I believe I can get more people interested in Hunter S. Thompson's work as well as Johnny Depp's. Have an amazing time reading this, I know I have!!
